Underground Techno Research

This project adapts the core technology from proj_ADAM into a high-performance live visual instrument tailored for the techno scene. Commissioned by UndergroundTechnoResearch for their residency at Tunnel Club, the goal was to bring generative AI into a club environment. I developed a custom TouchDesigner framework that drives StreamDiffusion in real-time, making the generative process fully audio-reactive. The system analyzes the music's frequencies to modulate generative loops. Then the AI regenerate everything, synchronizing the visual with the beat. A key innovation was the use of the Kinect Infrared sensor. Since club environments are notoriously dark, standard cameras fail to capture the DJ. By switching to IR computer vision, the system captures the artist in total darkness and feeds this data into the neural network, regenerating the DJ's image as a digital, pulsing entity that morphs live on the projection screen.
